Using the Mini-Hammer to Tap-Test

For endmills from 3/16" or 5mm to 3/8" or 10mm, you can use the optional mini-hammer and accelerometer.

The Mini-Kit consists of the following:

  1. USB Y-connector (use if you do not have enough USB ports)
  2. 086D80 Mini Hammer and Cable
  3. 352C23 Mini-Accelerometer
  4. USB Drive with Sensor Database for Mini-Kit

You need to setup the sensor database for the Mini-Kit

  1. Insert the USB drive from the Mini-Kit. Use Y-Connector if needed.
     
  2. Open MillMax
  3. Select Carbide Endmill
  4. Press CTRL+A keys at the same time
  5. Click MillMax Preferences
  6. Click Browse button next to Sensor Filename
  7. Click on USB drive
  8. Click on MetalMaxSensorDB.xml
  9. Click Open
  10. Click OK.

Click Practice and Tap-Test as you would with a conventional hammer. Hold the mini-hammer between your thumb and index finger.

When finished with the Mini-Kit, you must return to your original Sensor Database:

  1. Press CTRL+A keys at the same time
  2. Click MillMax Preferences
  3. Click on "Reset all Database Locations to Defaults" button.
  4. Click OK.
