Quick Read for Stable Speeds Only

You are at the machine and tapping an existing tool that is stable. You want to quickly check to see if there are better speeds. No time to enter data. Here are the steps:

  1. Open SpeedCast. by choosing the tool type (carbide or indexable endmill or face mill)
  2. The file defaults to 12,000 RPM. If you want to change it, click Machine Details and enter a new Max RPM or SFM, then click Apply and OK.
  3. Skip the toolholder.
  4. Select Generic Endmill, Indexable Endmill or Face Mill.
  5. Choose diameter and tooth count.
  6. Select closest material group.
  7. Tap tool
  8. Click DCC
  9. Adjust width and depth until green and/or yellow zones appear.
  10. Those are your stable speeds.
